Academics from the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre, coordinated by Professor Maria José Varadinov, participated in the international “CREDIPILLS Workshop – From Competencies to Teaching Practice”, organised within the scope of the European project CREDIPILLS for XXI Century Skills.
The event brought together representatives from several partner institutions, including the University of Information Technology and Management (Poland), Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna (Italy), Knowledge Innovation Centre (Malta), University of Novi Sad (Serbia) and the University of Murcia (Spain).

During the workshop, participants addressed key topics related to the project’s development, including project management and planning, roles and responsibilities, strategic alignment and leadership, as well as the design of taxonomies and learning outcomes focused on competency development. Discussions also explored the implementation of micro-credentials and their integration into teaching and learning environments.
The CREDIPILLS for XXI Century Skills project is currently under development and aims to promote the adoption of micro-credentials as innovative learning tools. This approach seeks to address contemporary educational challenges by providing more flexible, personalised and competency-based learning pathways that meet the evolving needs of both society and the labour market.

The participation of the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre in this international consortium reinforces its commitment to educational innovation, the modernisation of higher education and the promotion of lifelong learning opportunities.
